A local GP has highlighted the dangerous state of the former Ballygar Health Centre three years on from a devastating fire. Dr Martin Daly says there are legitimate concerns locally that the site hasn't been made safe following the 2021 blaze. However, he welcomed acknowledgement of the issue by the HSE during February's Regional Health Forum West.

The Ballygar GP said he was also satisfied with current health centre facilities at an old nursing home in the town. However, speaking to Shannonside News, he said there needs to be a discussion about the long-term future or health services in Ballygar:
