Almost 900 people in the Shannonside region are getting social housing support through a state scheme.
They receive the Housing Assistance Payment, which is for people who have a long-term housing need.
There are 366 people in Roscommon on the scheme, along with 272 in Longford and 239 in Leitrim.
A single person in Leitrim can only get 340 euro a month through HAP - which Carrigallen councillor Paddy O'Rourke says is too low.
