Almost 90 social homes brought back into use locally last year

There were almost 90 social homes brought back into use from vacancy in the Shannonside region last year. The Minister for Housing James Browne published figures showing 88 vacant social homes were brought back into active use in 2024 under the Voids Programme.

There were 43 social homes reactivated in Longford, 27 in Roscommon and 18 in Leitrim last year. Roscommon Councillor Micheal Frain says the figures are positive but there's more work needed to be done:
