Over 6,800 cars failed the NCT in the Shannonside Northern Sound region in the first three months of this year. The statistics were made available on the official NCT website. Just over 12,000 tests were carried out in Carrick-on-Shannon, Castlerea and Longford in January, February and March. Castlerea had the highest pass rate in the region at 48.21%.
That was followed by Carrick-on-Shannon at 46.47% and Longford at 46.26%. Across all three centres there were 992 dangerous failures. Carrick-on-Shannon recorded the highest amount of those at 397.
