Almost 5,000 people stranded on Roscommon hospital waiting lists

Over 4,600 people are languishing on waiting lists in Roscommon University Hospital.

Over 3,800 are waiting for their first outpatient consultation and 793 are waiting for an inpatient surgery.

A total of 138 patients have been waiting over 18 months, according to the National Treatment Purchase Fund.

Councillor Valerie Byrne, from the Roscommon Hospital Action Committee, says the new figures are very worrying.
