Almost 100 people in the Shannonside region have been on jobseekers' allowance continuously for six and a half years. 49 people in Longford have been on the payment since December 2019, along with 26 in Roscommon and 16 in Leitrim.
The stats have been released by Social Protection Minister Dara Calleary. Longford councillor Uruemu Adejinmi says they are certainly worrying:
