The turnout in the presidential election has hit 50 per cent in Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim, as of 8pm.
With two hours left to go until the polls close at 10pm, turnout has also increased in many other local stations.
A total of 41 per cent of the electorate has voted in Carrick-on-Shannon, with 40 per cent in Ballinamore and 38 per cent in Manorhamilton.
Turnout has also increased in Co Roscommon, with 46 per cent in Cortober in Carrick-on-Shannon, almost 46 per cent in south Roscommon, 41 per cent in Rooskey, 36 per cent in Roscommon town, 31 per cent in Ballinasloe, 35 per cent in Castlerea, 39 per cent in Boyle and 25 per cent in Ballaghaderreen.
Across the Longford-Westmeath constituency, the turnouts are as follows: Longford rural - 38 per cent; Longford urban - 36.5 per cent; Athlone rural - 39.5 per cent; Athlone urban - 37 per cent; Mullingar rural - 47.3 per cent; Mullingar urban - 33.5 per cent.
There are three names on the ballot papers - Catherine Connolly, Jim Gavin and Heather Humphreys.
