40 new homes under construction in Roscommon last month

40 new homes began construction in Roscommon last month, according to figures published this week.

Data from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage shows over 18,000 Commencement Notices were issued nationwide in April. Local Fianna Fáil Senator Eugene Murphy welcomed the latest figures, describing it 'unprecedented for any month on record'.

Of the 18,182 units commenced in April, 47% are scheme dwellings, 45% are apartments and 8% are for one-off units. According to Department of Housing figures, 30,138 new homes have begun construction so far this year.
