35 people died locally from Dementia complications in the first quarter of 2023

Nationally, in the first three months of the year, 693 people died from complications from the condition.

35 people died from complications related to Dementia or Alzheimer's disease locally in the first quarter of this year.

Figures from the CSO show that 27 Dementia deaths and 8 Alzheimer's deaths were recorded between January and March.

According to the Alzheimer Society of Ireland, there are more than 64,000 people living with dementia in Ireland, with that figure expected to reach 140,000 by 2050.
