32% increase in electric vehicles bought locally so far this year

There's been an almost 32% increase in the number of electric vehicles bought in the Shannonside region in the first eight months of this year. According to the latest report by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry, a total of 207 such vehicles were purchased in Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon between January and August. 104 were bought in Roscommon, up from 81 a year previously.

Longford saw an increase to 61 from 46 in 2024. While in Leitrim, 12 more electric vehicles totalling 42 until the end of August.
