20pc of farmers have no one to take over their holding

South Roscommon councillor and farmer, Laurence Fallon, says he's not surprised by the findings about successors.

One in five farmers do have any successor at all to take over their holding.

A further 20 per cent have identified a possible successor but haven't yet formalised any decision.

IFAC's Irish Farm Report 2026 also found 48 per cent of farmers say regulations are their biggest concern.
