Over €1.5million has been spent on providing meals to schools in the Shannonside region in the most recent school year.
New provisional figures published by the Department of Education reveal a total €2.6million (€2,659320) was spent on providing food to students in schools across the Shannonside region.
€750,000 was provided for meals in schools in Roscommon and just over €313,000 in County Leitrim.

Over 230,000 children nationwide take part in the scheme which is used by over 1500 schools nationwide.
