Split loyalties for the GAA

The GAA appear set to break away from their 32 county approach to the pandemic if restrictions on the return of activity are not eased by the Irish government

GAA training will return in the North of Ireland on April 12th effectively giving the 6 counties a light at the end of the Covid tunnel, while the remaining 26 counties in the Republic are still in the dark as to when their facilities will open. It is a decision that has moved away from the Associations 32 county approach to the pandemic and one that has caused some debate particularly along the border counties. Paddy Hunter is a free lance sports journalist from Co Tyrone and he remarked to Sean Mc Caffrey that the 12th has always been a significant date in the history of the North with the GAA now having their own reason to celebrate that number
