Roscommon and district league round-up

Boyle Celtic were held to a 2–2 draw away to Ballymoe FC and now find themselves four points behind the Premier Division leaders St. Johns Athletic with a game more played.

A full strength Ballymoe eased their relegation worries and while leading 2–0 well into the second-half. they were reasonably happy to pick up a point.

Gerry Connaughton gave them a 1–0 lead after 19 minutes and the ever-reliable Damien Goggins added a second 15 minutes into the second-half.

Luke Glennon pulled one back for the visitors. Shane Battles scored the equaliser in the fifth minute of injury time.

Skyvalley Rovers pocked up three valuable points from their home game against Dunmore Town at Onagh Park Taughmaconnell.

The hosts came out on top, 4–2 and were very relieved when the final whistle sounded. Dunmore having continually threatened the home defence and could have closed the gap in the last ten minutes of the game.

With just eight minutes played Emmett Kelly’s cross was headed low into the Dunmore net by John Feehily.

With 16 minutes played Keelan Galvin found Emmet Kelly at the edge of the penalty area. Kelly turned his marker before volleying to the top corner of the Dunmore net.

Dunmore came more into the game after that and Donagha Monaghan saved well to deny JJ Glynn. Thomas Gleeson won a penalty kick on 27 minutes for Dunmore which was scored by Victor Matos.

However, within a few minutes John Garvey won a penalty for the hosts, Dylan Fallon pulled off a great save to deny Garry Canavan.

On 38 minutes, Skyvalley broke out of defence and following a fine passing move the ball reached Danny Lyncy who coolly chipped the ball over the advancing keeper.

Five minutes from the end, Ramann Saman won a penalty and Victor Matos added his second from the penalty spot.

Only some excellent tackles from young Diarmuid Killeen, who was making his debut and Ethan Keogh kept Dunmore at bay in the final 10 minutes as the hosts held on to take all three points.

In the P K Trailers sponsored Division 1 all the top three teams had convincing wins.

Leaders Ballinahown beat Kilkerrin United 6–1 at Ballinahown. Man-of-the-match Terry Byrne scored four goals for the winners with Conor Rohan and Conor Rohan adding two more.

St. Johns Athletic second side remain seven points behind the leaders following their 2–1 win away to Ballaghaderreen.

Jamie Tiernan scored in each half with Tom Horan pulling a goal back for the losers with five minutes remaining.

Cloonfad United had a 5–1 win over the Castleplunket side C P Ajax at Tarmon and are in third place four points behind St Johns.

Michael McGarry, Jason Reinhardt and Matthew Frayne had the winners 3–0 up at half-time.

The hosts created some good chances before pulling a goal back through a penalty from TJ Hannon on 61 minutes.

However, two goals from Jack Madden and an own goal in the last 10 minutes sealed all three points for Cloonfad United.

Ballinasloe Town beat Moylough 79 2-0 away at Moylough. Fayaz Choudhry Musadique gave them a 1-0 lead. They added a second on 63 minutes through Ryan McCombe.

The Glenamaddy side, Glen Celtic are 11 points clear at the top of the Killeen’s Sports Fields Division 2 but the two nearest teams have three games less played.

Glen Celtic beat Lough Harps 5–0 at Ballinlough. The winners were 2–0 up at half-time thanks to Gavin Hegarty.

After the break Dylan Joyce, Conor Raftery and Gavin Hegarty added three more for a very good Glen Celtic side.

Castlerea Celtic’s second side had a chance to move into second place were beaten 5–2 away to Boyle Celtic’s second side.

Castlerea went 2–0 up after just 10 minutes, thanks to two well worked goals from Nathan Bligh and Gerry Ward.

However, that was as good as it got for the Castlerea side. The hosts side pulled one back before half-time and added four more after the break.

Colm Morris scored two and Darragh Hennessy, Calum Andrews and Isak Said scored one for the winners.

The Ballinagare v Ballyboro game was postponed due to bad weather.

St. Cuans/Ahascragh United had a 6–1 win over Boscommon United second side.

Liam O’Connor and Pat Mongon scored two each and Ryan Fitzpatrick getting one and an own goal. Nathan Hannon replied for United.

Cam Celtic/Dysart beat Carrick Town 4–1 at Dysart.

Diarmuid Colgan opened the scoring for Cam after 11 minutes Niall Bambrick had the side’s level after 57 minutes. However, Ben Moran scored three for the winners before the end.

Roscommon United had a good 4–1 win over Cloonfad United “B” at Cloonfad.

Gustavo Araujo gave the United an early lead but Daniel Fagan had the side’s level at half-time. Mark Dwyer Enzo Bueno and Marcel gala scored for the winners after the break.

Women's League Round-up

The Women’s League is really tight at the top with Dunmore Town, Ballaghaderreen and Boyle Celtic all in contention for the Premier Title.

Dunmore Town beat Boyle Celtic 1 – 0 at Boyle. Aishling Hynes scored the only goal of the game.

Indeed, Ballaghaderreen are just one point behind, having beat new side Roscommon United 5–0 at Ballaghaderreen.

The score-line was not a true reflection of the game as United created many chances but failed to take advantage of them.

Rebecca Finan opened the scoring for Ballaghaderreen after 11 minutes and Ava McGrael and Grace McDermott added two more before half-time. Rebecca Final and Ava Mc Greal added two more after the break.

Kilkerrin United beat Shiven Rovers 3–0 at Newbridge. Caitlin Boyle, Kate McGann and Amy Boyle scored for the winners.

The Castlerea Celtic v Carrick Town game was abandoned due to an injury to a player with Castlerea Celtic leading 4–0 at the-time.
