Dunmore Town had an impressive 4–2 win away to Boyle Celtic.
Dunmore started the brightest and took the lead through Ramann Saman after a great pass by Declan Forde.
The visitors soon made it 2–0 when Tom Byrne scored following a corner-kick.
Shane Battles pulled one back following good play by Michael Corrigan. However, just before half-time Declan Forde slotted home Dunmore’s third following a Fionan Coleman through ball.
Battles pulled a second goal back for Boyle following a Colm Morris cross. The visitors responded in style with Dan Burke volleying to the Boyle net as Dunmore took three points.
Last season’s champions St. Johns Athletic game with Moore United following an injury to a Moore player. Moore had led 3-1.
Charles Nevin had scored two and Jay McPhilin one for Moore with Cian Kelly replying for the St. Johns.
Division One round-up
In Division 1, Ballinahown made it three games without defeat. Ballinahown made the trip to Tarmon and came away 2–1 winners over C.P Ajax.
Oisin O’Reilly scored after 13 minutes and Mauricio Cordeiro added a second on 44 minutes. Joey Kilkenny pulled one back for the Castleplunket side.
St. Johns second side had a god win away to Cloonfad United. The hosts missed a few really good chances before Carl Ferick scored for St. Johns just before the break.
The hosts levelled hrough Darragh Flynn on the hour mark. However, M J O’Connor scored on the break near the end of the game to give St. Johns a 2–1 win.
Moylough hosted Ballaghaderreen on Sunday and shared the points.
Ballaghaderreen took the lead through a Leon Sinnott header. Ballaghaderreen took control but Moylough should have scored from a corner when a Leo Donnellan header was saved by the keeper.
In the second-half Moylough were a different team and were level five minutes after the restart. Shane Donnellan converting a free-kick.
Half-way through the half, Cathal Horan scored from a Ballaghaderreen corner. With 10 minutes remaining, Shane Donnellan converted a free-kick, sending the ball into the top corner.
Ballinasloe Town scored a 4-2 win over Kilkerrin United at Ballinasloe. The hosts took an early lead. However, Declan Murphy and Michael Fahy had Kilkerrin 2–1 ahead on 30 minutes.
However, Ballinasloe were on top from then on and they added three through Christy Smith, Danny O’Brien and Daragh Concannon.
Ballyleague-Lanesboro return
Having been a founding member of the Roscommon and District League back in 1971 the Ballyleague-Lanesboro side, Ballyboro made a welcome return.
They beat Cam Celtic/Dysart 5–2 at Dysart. Jordan Donnelly and Aidan Dooney gave the winners a two-goal lead before Andy Higgins pulled a goal back for Dysart.
Some outstanding saves by Mark Tarmey kept Cam Celtic in front. Jordan Donnelly added his second before David Cummins scored a second for Dysart.
However, Donnellan added two more before the end to secure all three points for Ballyboro.
Glen Celtic hosted Ballinagare on Friday evening in Glenamaddy in their first game of the season.
Glen fell a goal behind after a long free from the opposition. However, Glen battled on and Darragh Keaveney slotted home a penalty after Darren Hegarty was fouled in the box just on the stroke of half-time.
Darren Hegarty fired Conor Chapman cross home with a volley. Gavin Hegarty and Dylan Joyce linked up well with Dylan rifling it into the top corner from a tight angle.
Ballinagare pulled a second back in injury time. However, Glen held out for a 3-2 win to get the three points in the first game of the season.
St. Cuans/Ahascragh United started the new season with a 5–0 win over Rahara Rovers at Ahascragh.
All the goals came in the second-half. The ever reliable Simon Leonard scored three and Omar Dalton and Marcos Santos adding one each.
Lough Harps got off to a winning start away to Roscommon United. The teams were well matched but it was the Ballinlough side who took their chances.
They scored in each half before Envo Beuno pulled one back for Roscommon United.
Castlerea Celtics second side had an impressive 8–0 win over Moore United “B” at Castlerea. Gerry Ward scored three and Johns Curran and Yani Chiforiuc added two each with Jack Woods making up the remainder.
New side Carrick Town beat Roscommon United “B” 7–0 at Carrick-on-Shannon.
Women's League Round-up
In the Women’s League, Dunmore had a comfortable 6–0 win over Shiven Rover at Newbridge. Aoife Smyth scored four and Siobhan O’Grady two.
Ballaghaderreen FC and Castlerea Celtic drew 2–2 at Ballaghaderreen. Nicole McGuinn opened the scoring for the hosts just after half-time.
Castlerea were level 20 minutes into the second-half. Indeed, Caoimhe Feeney restored the Ballaghaderreen lead before Castlerea Celtic levelled the game with 10 minutes remaining.
Boyle Celtic beat new side Roscommon United 6–1 at Roscommon. Hevelly Reberto scored for the hosts.
Kilkerrin United beat Carrick Town 5–1 at Carrick-on-Shannon. Elenor McDermott, Karla Cassidy, Kate McGann and Amy Boyle scored for Kilkerrin.
