Bottom placed Longford Town travel to Dundalk

Vinny Perth will look to make a winning return to the Dundalk dug out as he takes charge for Friday night’s meeting with Longford Town.

Longford Town are currently in the midst of a 14-game winless run, with their only victory this season coming against Derry City on the opening day.

Daire Doyle’s side currently sit 10 points behind the Lilywhites after 15 games, scoring just 10 times and conceding 28, the second worst record in the division.

Town have lost their last five league games, with their last point also coming again against the Candystripes in a 1-1 draw in early May.

However, they earned a draw the last time the sides met at the start of May at Bishopsgate when a late Chris Shields goal snatched a point for the Lilywhites.

For town Callum Warfield is still out recovering from his long-term injury. Shane Elworthy is following return to paly protocol’s for concussion

Vinny Perth made a surprise return to the club this week, it will be his first game in charge since the Champions League first qualifying round against NK Celje last August.

Dundalk advised that no pre-match media activity would take place with the newly re-instated Perth.
