Mullinalaghta book return to Longford SFC final after seeing off Dromard

Mullinalaghta booked their return to the Longford senior football final after seeing off Dromard.

Just 15 seconds were on the clock when David McGivney opened the scoring for Mullinalaghta with a point from play.

Ross McNerney equalised less than 90 seconds later. Hardly 60 seconds later Joseph Hagan collected Francis McGee’s knock down and found the Mullinalaghta net.

Cian MacKey, Gary Rogers, Jayson Matthews, Rian Brady, David McGivney 0-3 2f and James McGivney moved Mullinalaghta into a six point half-time lead.

Two Ross McNerney points for Dromard left the score 1-4 to 10 points at half-time.

The second-half was score for score David McGivney, James McGivney. Points from Francis McGee and Ronan McIntyre brought it back to a two point game.

Aidan McElligot, Cian Mackey and James McGivney added points for Mullinalaghta to move them into a 15 points to 1-9 lead with eight minutes remaining.

Surprisingly that was the final score of the game as Mullinalaghta booked their place in the 2022 decider.

The 2021 champions will play either Colmcille or Longford Slashers in the Longford final on October ninth.
