Mullinalaghta scored a late win over Dromard in tight encounter, which Dromard let slip away.
Mullinalaghta scored a 1-18 to 2-13 victory, but key scores at the ends of both halves gave the two-points to the aging side.
Dromard started the better. A Francis McGee penalty saw Dromard lead 1-2 to two points after 11 minutes.
Peader Kiernan moved Dromard four clear on 14 minutes. However, James McGivney replied with the games first two-pointer moments later.
Joseph Hagan sent over Dromard’s first two-pointer after 21 minutes. Shane Mulligan pulled it back to a three point game a minute later.
Dromard had their second goal of the game on 23 minutes. Great work from Daniel Conboy and Aaron Farrell setup Francis McGee for the goal.
William McEntire sent over Dromard’s sixth point as they 2-6 to five points a minute before half-time.
However, Dromard hit the self-destruct button. Sean McNerney took too long over a restart. The resulting free was converted by David McGivney. McGivney added another free moments later as Droamrd led 2-6 to seven points at half-time.
The lead was cut back to two point’s seconds after the restart. Patrick Lynch sent in a big ball from the line. McNerney under pressure didn’t connect correctly with his fist as the ball ended up in the net.
Dromard’s lead was cut to one on 34 minutes as Lynch added a point. 2-6 to 1-8.
Aaron Farrell landed Dromard’s first score of the second-half on 40 minutes. However, Mullinalaghta were level two minutes later thanks to a Gary Rogers two-pointer.
Mullinalaghta fight back right at the end
David McGivney added a two-point free on 43 minutes as Mullinalaghta took the lead 1-12 to 2-7.
The sides exchanged scores through Joseph Hagan and Donal McElligott as the late summer rain taking the zip out of the pitch.
Dromard weren’t done and Aaron Farrell made it a one-point game on 45 minutes. A David McGivney free restored Mullinalaghta’s two point advantage on 47 minutes.
Daniel Conboy brought it back to a point on 49 minutes. Whereas, Joseph Hagan put Dromard level six minutes from time.
Gary Rogers and a Francis McGee free seemed to have the sides set for a draw. In fact Aaron Farrell moved Dromard into a 2-13 to 1-15 lead with 60 seconds remaining.
Alas, Mullinalaghta weren’t beaten. Jayson Matthews massive two-pointer moved them ahead two minutes into injury time.
Shane Mulligan saw red for a second yellow card in the closing stages. Donal McElligott sealed the win with four of injury time on the clock.
One which Dromard let slip away. Mullinalaghta 1-18, Dromard 2-13.
