Longford Town hammer Bray Wanderers 3-0

Jordan Adeyemo’s brace helped secure Longford a third league victory on the bounce as they beat Bray Wanderers 3-0.

Town remain fourth in the SSE Airtricity first division following an Adeyemo brace and a penalty from Sam Verdon.

Bray had the game’s first chance on 10 minutes, Paul Fox’s curling shot flashed just wide of the far post. Town came close to scoring three times in the space of 90 seconds.

Verdon rolled the ball into the path of Aaron Robinson, whose 20-yard thunderbolt produced an excellent save from Bray keeper Stephen McGuinness.

Within a minute, McGuinness again produced a fine save from another Robinson strike. This time, a curling shot from the edge of the box. Moments later, a Hanratty cross was headed just wide of the far post by Shane Elworthy.

Longford took the lead on 26 minutes. Aaron Robinson played a short ball to Elworthy and his exquisite defence-splitting pass put in Adeyemo.

Having beaten the Bray offside trap, Adeyemo calmly rounded McGuinness, slotting home his third goal in three league games.

The visitors doubled their lead on 32 minutes. James O'Callaghan brought down Adeyemo inside the box. Captain Verdon stepped-up to send McGuinness the wrong way from the penalty spot.

Town sealed the three points on 52 minutes with Adeyemo's second of the match, his fourth in three league games.

Hanratty played the ball back to Barnett who pinged his left-wing cross which was finished to the net from close range by Adeyemo.

Town almost scored a fourth in the 73rd minute but Barnett's 25-yard free-kick struck the Bray post.
