Another point collected for Longford Town as their of the season continues.
This one should be viewed as a point won by the hosts. UCD had a bit more in the forward areas. However to be honest, there wasn't much happening in either box.
With Cork City odds on to win the first division. The race is onto find the four play-off competitors. On this evidence, both sides look unlikely to extend their season beyond the regular games.
Town should have taken the lead just two minutes into the game after good play from Stefan Ugbesia.
Ugbesia found Osaze Irhue wide on the right, whose pull back found Daragh Murtagh in space, but he could only find the side net.
UCD keeper Dara Kavanagh was at his athletic best to deny Cole Omorehiomwan on 11 minutes from Pharrell Manuel's corner. Manuel setup Omorehiomwan moments later but the header was straight at Kavanagh.
The visitors first chance arrived three minutes later. Stephen Mohan losing his marker but keeper Kian Moore saved well.
UCD should have taken the lead on 32 minutes. In a goal line scramble Adam Wells toe poke was cleared off the line.
The visitors started brighter after the restart. Luca Cailloce should have done better in space at the top right of the Longford box, However, he could only fire the ball straight at Moore.
UCD showed more composure as the game progressed. The best opportunity arising on the hour mark. Substitute Louis Dignam releasing Mohan behind the town right back.
Longford subs change the momentum
However, Mohan's first time shot was straight forward for Moore. UCD ran out of gas in the attacking areas.
While the introduction of Dean Williams and Andy Paraschive disrupted the UCD play.
Andy Parashchiv's speculative effort didn't trouble Kavanagh two minutes from time. That was the closest the hosts came. A third draw in four for Town.
