A poor final quarter resulted in a heavy defeat for Longford Slashers.

The Longford Slashers ladies footballers suffered a heavy defeat in the Leinster LGFA intermediate club final losing 3-13 to 0-9 to St. Sylvester’s at Kinnegad.

Kate Sullivan’s goal on 15 minutes helped St. Sylvester’s to a 1-5 to 0-5 lead at half-time while Jessica Barry (2), Lisa Nolan, Kara Shannon and Aisling Corsgrove were on target for Slashers.

St. Sylvester’s moved five points clear at the second water break having narrowly shaded the third quarter and a strong finish saw them run out convincing winners.

Sinead Aherne scored the game’s second goal on 49 minutes before Nicole Owens added another six minutes later as the Dublin side finished with 13 points to spare.
