Longford Phoenix Basketball Club January 16

There was lots of action over the last two weeks for the Longford Phoenix Basketball Club.

Underage News

In the Midlands League, both our U18 and U14 girls teams lost narrowly to Athlone by two point margins.

In the LLR League, we had five teams in action against Ballinamore. The U16 boys won 60 points to 20 and our U16 girls fire won 35 points to 27.

There was also a victory for the U14 girls wings, however our U14 girls flames lost by a point and our U12 girls lost by three points.

On Sunday, both of our Under 14 Boys teams hosted Ballinamore in two very close encounters.

Our Stars team lost their Division 2 clash by 19 points to 17, but our Suns side edged out the visitors in their Division 1 match, winning out 28 points to 24.

Christian McGerr top-scored with eight points, Oisin McHugh scored  seven points, Sean O'Boyle fired in five, while both Seosamh Mulvihill and Tadgh Reilly added four points each.

Also in the LLR League over the weekend, the U14 girls wings beat Carrick Cougars, but our two U12 Girls teams were beaten away to Boyle.
