Longford's wait for a first Lory Meagher cup title in eight years continues.

Longford missed out on a Lory Meagher cup title after losing 3-27 to 3-14 to Louth in the decider at Croke Park.

Longford started Joe O’Brien’s saw Longford lead 1-2 to no score inside five minutes but the Midlanders would fail to score for another 22 minutes.

Louth opened up a six –point gap by hitting 2-5 during that period and the Wee County held on to lead 2-9 to 1-7 at the break.

Louth moved 11 points clear on 47 when Paul Matthews added another goal and they ran out convincing winners in the end despite late Longford goals from Reuben Murray and Enda Naughton.
