Longford fall further in relegation battle

Longford fell to their second defeat of the Allianz League season as Fermanagh scored 3-11 to 1-10 victory.

The game swung on Longford captains Mickey Quinn’s red card just before half-time. The hosts had led eight points to three at the break.

Fermanagh took full advantage of the one man advantage and the strong wind in the second-half.

Keelin McGann was twice denied by Fermanagh keeper Cian Newman after the break, with Fermanagh taking advantage.

Sean Quigley found the net on 41 minutes as Fermanagh moved ahead a minute later and then Quiley found a second goal a minute later. Fermanagh led by six with six minutes remaining.

A Gallagher free four minutes from time was Longford’s first score of the second-half. A Dylan Farrell goal in the 69th minute cut the deficit to three points but that was as good as it got.

Fermanagh sealed their win with a third goal deep in stoppage time from substitute Garvin Jones.
