Lissywollen to host champions league fixture

Athlone Town and Cardiff will meet in the Womens CL qualifier

Athlone Town manager Colin Fortune says their upcoming Champions League tie will be "massive" for the club.

The Women's Premier Division champions host Cardiff City in their first-round qualifier at Lissywollen on Wednesday.

It's the first time Athlone has hosted a competitive European fixture since 1983.

Fortune says the town is embracing the occasion and hopes it will help grow the support for the club.
