Leitrim ladies secured promotion to division three with victory over Sligo after extra-time.
Johnny Garrity's side trailed for long periods of the game. A Sligo goal from Ellen Giblin leaving some daylight between the sides after 36 minutes.
Leitrim fought back, landing a goal of their own three minutes later through Muireann Devaney, reducing the deficit to three.
Their second goal came on 51 minutes with Kate Gormley finding the net, setting up a tense final nine minutes of play, as the game ended all square at the end of normal time.
At the end of regulation time it finished Sligo 1-10 to Leitrim’s 2-7.
Points from Muireann Devaney, Dearbhaile Beirne and Laura O’Dowd in extra-time ensured Leitrim had enough to overcome a difficult Sligo side, holding out for a two point win, 2-10 to 1-11.
The win secures promotion for Leitrim from Division four. Whereas, also setting up a league decider with Carlow in two weeks’ time.
