The Leitrim ladies footballers opened their TG4 All-Ireland IFC campaign with a 3-10 to 3-9 defeat at the hands of Wicklow at Drumshanbo.
The game was evenly contested throughout as Leitrim led 2-8 to 2-7 at half-time. Michelle Guckian and Laura O’Dowd scored a goal each for the hosts.
Wicklow found the net for a third time within five minutes of the restart and the visitors suddenly moved four points clear 11 minutes from time.

Siomha Quinn replied with a goal for Leitrim six minutes from time but they failed to land an equalizer and lost out by the smallest of margins
