It is believed that counties are being contacted today, to see if dropping the remaining 2 National league games would be accepted to ensure a championship could take place.

Having suspended all Club activity at the start of the week as the Covid Restrictions went to Level 3, the attention has now turned to the intercounty competitions, which at the moment are scheduled to start the weekend after next.

The 2 remaining fixtures of the league are to throw in from the 17th of October with the provincial championships set to start on the bank holiday weekend.

However with a number of counties, including Armagh and Fermanagh having confirmed that they have ceased senior training due to Covid 19 concerns, the association are now believed to be considering dropping those league games to give more time and indeed saving the championship.

Meanwhile, the Club players Association, believe the GAA made the wrong call to suspend all games and are asking for it to be reversed to allow championship campaigns to be finished

Tommy Kenoy is secretary of the CPA and he remarked that their members were disappointed to be now left not knowing when competitions will or indeed ever be finished
