Last gasp Leitrim produce drama to down Wexford

Ryan O'Rourke hat-trick see's Leitrim move top of Allianz League division four

Leitrim scored a last gasp victory over Wexford to move top of Allianz league division four.

Ryan O'Rourke sealed a hat-trick with a late penalty as Leitrim won out 3-7 to 2-9.

It was O'Rourke who go the game off to a flying start. Right from the throw-in O'Rourke turned on the ball in and found the net.

Wexford opened their account on 10 minutes through a Sean Nolan point. Six minutes later Nolan grabbed his second and 60 seconds later Richie Waters levelled the game.

However, O'Rourke was at it again three minutes later. Leitrim's second attack of the game resulting in O'Rourke's second goal!

Jack Foley added a Leitrim point. Leitrim's first point with 24 minutes on the clock.

Darragh Lyons and O'Rourke exchanged points before Ben Brosnan scored the last score of the half to leave Wexford trail by three at half-time. 2-2 to 0-5.

Nevin O'Donnell converted a '45 in the opening moments of the second-half with Glen Malone added a Wexford score in response.

Barry McNulty restored the Leitrim four point lead but the game was only heating up.

Ben Brosnan smashed the ball into the Leitrim net on 43 minutes to make it a one point game! Jamie McGreal sent over a point at the other end in an immediate response.

Liam Colman kept the Wexford scoreboard ticking 60 seconds later making it 2-5 to 1-7.

Kevin O'Grady got the visitors eighth point on 52 minutes to level the game. Riordan O'Rourke restored Leitrim's lead three minutes later.

However, Wexford would hit the front for the first time as Niall Hughes finished to the net putting Wexford 2-8 to 2-6 ahead with 11 minutes to play.

Wexford held onto the ball well frustrating Leitrim, but Darragh Rooney converted a free with two minuts remaining to make it a one point game.

With the clock set to go red Paraic Hughes sent over a point which looked to have sealed a Wexford victory.

However, the Carrick-on-Shannon crowd went wild when the referee awarded a penalty.

Up stepped Ryan O'Rourke to send the ball to the bottom left of the net and seal the Leitrim win 3-7 to 2-9.
