Covid-19 restrictions saw Ireland WNT lose glamour friendly with Brazil in Ireland

The Irish women’s soccer team were unable to fulfil a friendly fixture with Brazil in Ireland due to covid-19 restrictions.

Vera Pauw’s Ireland side face two friendlies this week against Denmark in Tallaght stadium on Thursday and then Belgium in the King Baudouin Stadium on April 11.

“Brazil contacted us because the coach, he wanted to play a game in Ireland against us” revealed Ireland manager Pauw, Brazil are ranked number eight in the world.

“It was covid restrictions” that the game didn’t take “we did not turn it out, it has been because of covid, they had to cancel their whole trip” explained Pauw.

Pauw though was happy with the request from Brazil for a friendly as Ireland improve in international standing.

“It was because of our style, because of our play, we are getting a different status internationally” declared Pauw.

“It was the same with Denmark we wanted the game to be played here” explained Pauw, the Danes are ranked number 14 in the World.
