Ireland registered 12 tries in an utterly dominant display.

Ireland opened their rugby world cup campaign with an emphatic 82-8 victory over Romania at Bordeaux.

Andy Farrell’s men led for the majority of the contest and registered 12 tries in an utterly dominant display.

Those in green got off to a nightmare start. Romania’s Gabriel Rupanu registered a try three minutes in.

Somehow, the conversion was missed from a straightforward angle but nonetheless Ireland were still 5-0 down.

Ireland eventually settled as Jamison Gibson Park crossed the line two minutes later. Johnny Sexton added the conversion.

Those in green now had a spring in their step. Hugo Keenan and Tadhg Beirne followed up with two tries in five minutes.

Rupanu replied with a penalty on 21 minutes but Ireland still led 19-8.

13 minutes later, Ireland wrapped up the try bonus point when Bundee Aki scored a converted try.

Johnny Sexton added another one on the stroke of half-time where Ireland led 33-8.

Two more Irish players got on the scoresheet after the restart. Further tries from Rob Herring and Peter O’Mahony putshing the  lead to 47-8 on 50 minutes.

Sexton crossed the line for the second time on 63 minutes. Three minutes later, the Irish captain was replaced by Jack Crowley.

Joe McCarthy registered his first ever Irish try on 68 minutes. Crowley added the conversion as Andy Farrell's side led 61-8.

Aki, O’Mahony and Beirne added their second tries thereafter and Crowley slotted over the conversion each time as Ireland ran out convincing winners.
