Longford Town boss Daire Doyle has admitted he finally got his man in new left-back Paddy Kirk.
Kirk returns to his old stomping ground of Dalymount Park on Saturday as Longford Town look to build on an opening day win over Derry City.
“Paddy is still a young player, he had limited time at Bohs, we identified him at least two years ago, we tried to get him before” explained Doyle.
“We’re delighted to get him, he goes back to his old club Bohs this week and I’m sure he’ll have a point to prove that he was well capable of playing for the club”.
“We wanted to bring strong characters into the group, we wanted to bring good people into the group and if you can be a very good footballer as well”.
“That’s three things we look for” explained Doyle, “if you have the quality the experience and the leadership and we think Paddy has that and a lot of other players we’ve bought in as-well”.
Town saw off Derry by two-goals to nil in the opening weekend win, while Bohs went down to another side expected to be in the drop zone, Finn Harps 1-0 last Saturday.
“Bohs will be disappointed with the start they made last week so we can definitely expect a reaction” declared Doyle.
“We’ve done a fair bit of home work on them” explained Doyle, “There’s a slight change to their system from last season, obviously there’s changes in their front three with Danny Mandroiu leaving”.
“We’re in for another tough game against a bohemians side that finished second last season, but it’s a game we’re looking forward to”.
“We have a game plan in place, we know what to do, but we know we’re up against a very strong Bohs team, but it’s big for the club to go to Dalymount”.
“They will be very well setup with Keith Long as manager and Trevor Croly, there always well setup, it will be a tough game”.
