Darragh Greene withdraws from 200m at European Aquatics championship

The Longford swimmer had been due to compete at the championships in Budapest Hungary

Darragh Greene will not compete in the 200m Breaststroke at the LEN European Aquatics Championship in Hungary but will feature now in the men's mixed 4x100 medley relays later in the week. The Longford swimmer competed earlier in the week in the semi finals of the 100m Breaststroke, but missed out on a final placing. Elsewhere at the championships the men's 4x200 freestyle relay team have set a new Irish record this morning in qualifying for the final at the championships The team of Finn Mc Geever, Jack Mc Millian, Gerry Quinn and Jordan Sloan shaved over a second of the record.

Mona McSharry goes in the final of the 100-metres breaststroke later this evening. The Sligo swimmer qualified sixth fastest from the semi-finals. McSharry returns to the Budapest pool at 5.25, Irish time.
