Colmcille fought back to book a return to the Longford senior football final with a four-point win over Clonguish.
Championship favourites Clonguish led 1-8 points to 1-6 at half-time. However, Colmcille staged a massive fight back to win out 2-11 to 1-10.
Barry McKeown stared for Colmcille as goals from Cathal McCabe and Eoin Hawkins sent Ger Carberry side into the final.
Clonguish looked odds on for victory, when Jack Duggan found the net in the second minute. Duggan’s goal cancelling out two early Colmcille points.
Cormac Flynn added a second Clonguish points as they led by two after three minutes. A Matthew Carey free and Matthew Flynn from play either side of a Cathal McCabe point saw Clonguish lead 1-3 to four points on the quarter hour.
Jack Macken made it a one point game from play before Michael Flynn converted a two-point free to restore the goal lead. Chris Gordon’s 22nd minute point making putting Clonguish 1-6 to five-points ahead.
Barry McKeon (f) and Jamie Dorr exchanged points before Cathal McCabe rattled in a Colmcille goal two minutes before half-time. Clonguish led 1-8 to 1-6 at half-time.
Colmcille flew out of the traps in second-half. McKeon converting a free and a two-pointer to move Colmcille ahead. Jack Macken extended the lead to two points on 47 minutes.
Matthew Carey pulled a point back before Cathal Reilly fisted a point with 10 minutes remaining. Eoin Hawkins smashed in a goal six minutes from time to firmly put Colmcille in the driving seat.
Michael Flynn responded with a free in the last minute but time Clonguish had no real answer as Colmcille won out 2-11 to 1-10. The Longford senior final takes place on Sunday October 12th.
