Longford champions bow out of Leinster at the first hurdle

St Columba’s Mullinalaghta were left stunned as they bowed out of the Leinster SFC championship to Blessington.

The Wicklow champions produced a shock comeback in the final stages to win out 1-7 to 1-5 at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.

Mullinalaghta had led 1-5 to 0-1 at half-time. Aidan McElligott was sent-off after just nine minutes. Gary Rogers 17th minute penalty seemed to have moved Mullinalaghta into a strong position.

Blessington won the game in the final quarter having trailed by five points with 10 minutes remaining. Substitute Dan Silke Featherston goal pulled Blessington right back into it as they scored 1-4 to setup a quarter-final with Naas.
