Mohill extracted revenge on Ballinamore Sean O’Heslin’s as the defending champions were dumped out of the Leitrim championship.
Keith Beirne was in amazing form as always kicking six first-half points. The game exploded into life on 16 minutes with Mohill leading six points to two.
Keith Keegan found the Ballinamore net with Jordan Reynolds adding a second goal three minutes later. Reynolds adding a point for Mohill.
Ballinamore didn’t lie down two points from Wayne McKeon and one from Luke Murphy plus Mark McGrory’s goal two minutes from the break brought the defending champions back into the game.
Tom Prior’s point in injury time saw Mohill lead 2-7 to 1-4 at half-time.
A Dean McGovern point and Wayne McKeon’s free brought the game back to four points, four minutes after the restart.
The sides exchanged points through Keith Beirne (45) and Shane Quinn for Mohill. Brian Leyden and Wayne McKeon. Beirne and Moran traded points making it a four point game with 10 minutes remaining.
Mohill then hit three in a row from Beirne, Sean Harkin and Beirne again. Shane Moran landed a late Ballinamore point, but it wasn’t enough.
Ronan Kennedy wrapped the scoring up in the final minute as Mohill advanced to the semi-finals winning out 2-14 to 1-11.
