St. Patrick’s Dromahair 0-8 Ballinamore Sean O'Heslins 1-20
Ballinamore Sean O'Heslins got their defence of the county title to a flying start with a 14 point win over St. Patrick’s Dromahair.
Hosts Dromahair made an early second-half comeback with four points. Paul Moran found the back of the Dromahair net helping Ballinamore to a 1-4 seven minute blitz.
It was a rude arrival to senior football for Dromahair as Ballinamore won out 1-19 to 0-8.
Fenagh St. Cailins 3-16 Aughawillan 0-13
This was game was much closer than the scoreboard let it be believed. Ryan O’Rourke’s early goal was the difference throughout, Fenagh led 1-9 to nine points at half-time.
Aughawillan had more of the play throughout the second-half, but consistently missed their chances.
The game was still in the balance entering the final six minutes when Fenagh went the length of the pitch as Oisin McLoughlin found the net.
Riordan O'Rourke put the gloss on the score-line with an added time goal as Fenagh won out 3-16 to 13 points.
Melvin Gaels 0-12 Gortletteragh 1-10
Gortletteragh were always ahead on the scoreboard, but Melvin Gaels threw everything the south Leitrim side.
Keoghan McGovern found the gaels net 11 with just 11 minutes on the clock and that was the difference.
Gortletteragh led 1-5 to four points at half-time and what followed was excellent defence from back to forwards.
Four quick early second-half points saw the team’s level before Gaels saw a black card to Peter McGowan. They were soon down to 13 men when Cathal McSharry saw red.
Points from Jamie Quinn (3) and Francis Flynn seemed to have put Gortletteragh home. The hosts didn’t read the script though and pulled the score back.
The hosts couldn’t turn the game around though and Cillian McGloin saw the line for two yellows in the final moments as Gortletteragh won by a point.
