Irish boxers discover opponents

Roscommon's Aoife O'Rourke will begin her Olympic middleweight campaign against Li Qian of China on Wednesday the 28th of July.

O'Rourke is one of four Irish boxers who will begin their bid for an Olympic medal from the last 16 stage, after the draws were made on Thursday

The roscommon woman's bout is set for a quarter-past 10 on Wednesday morning.

Elsewhere Kellie Harrington and Michaela Walsh were already poised to receive byes into the last 16 prior to the draw. Aidan Walsh received a bye into the last 16 of the men's welterweight

Kurt Walker is the first Irish fighter in action early on Saturday morning. Emmett Brennan is next in the ring on Sunday, with Brendan Irvine beginning his Olympic campaign early on Monday morning.
