The Roscommon boxer was competing in her first Olympic games.

It was disappointment for Aoife O'Rourke as she missed out on a place in the quarter-finals at the Olympics. The Roscommon boxer lost out to former world middleweight champion Qian Li of China on a unanimous decision in Tokyo. It was better news for her fellow Irish team mate Kurt Walker as he advanced to the quarter-finals of the men's featherweight. He shocked Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov on a split decision to set up a medal bout on Friday.
