Aoife O'Roruke set to fight for Silver at Strandja Memorial Tournament

O'Rourke won gold in the 2022 tournament

Castlerea Boxer Aoife O’Rourke has secured a semi-final spot at 75th Strandja Memorial Tournament in Bulgaria.

O’Rourke beat Poland’s Elzbieta Wojcik on a unanimous decision in her quarter-final on Thursday afternoon. This means O’Rourke will be guaranteed at least a bronze medal.

Earlier, Aoife’s sister Lisa narrowly missed out on a semi-final spot after losing on a split decision to Aneta Rygielska from Poland.

Aoife O’Rourke’s semi-final bout will take place on Saturday February 10th.  Aoife last competed in the Strandja Memorial Tournament in 2022 taking gold.
