LISTEN: Forestry group says planting more trees will reduce carbon footprint

The group representing the forestry sector in Ireland says the government must move quickly to reduce carbon reduction targets by scaling up the existing timber sector.

Forest Industries Ireland brings together companies from across the forestry and timber supply chain, from forest owners and forestry companies, to timber processors, wood product manufacturers, and renewable energy producers.

The call though comes amid a major backlog of applications for anyone who wants to either plant or harvest trees, and as many communities don't want to see any large areas planted with conifers.
