Fury over 'insensitive' use of 'Big Tom' Mass booklet

A message posted on the Ballyleague Village Renewal Facebook page on the day of Big Tom McBride's funeral has angered many fans.

It said the Mass booklet that was prepared for the ceremony would be a spot prize in a tidy towns quiz later that night. Describing it as 'a real collector's item', it added 'the piece of memorabilia' would be a prize in a raffle at the event at the Roscommon village.

Ballyleague Renewal deleted the post, adding it was an error or judgment and that no malice was intended.
