The Bishop of Elphin Kevin Doran claims that the same arguments being used to justify abortion will be used to justify ending the lives of frail elderly people and people with significant disability.
The Bishop, who is also chair of the Catholic Bishops' consultative group on bioethics, has issued a pastoral message outlining his view to parishes throughout the Diocese.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show he said ''I think by taking the rights of life to the unborn out the constitution you actually make a statement about the right to life as a fundamental human right''.

It comes ahead of tonight's cabinet meeting to debate wording for the referendum which is expected to take place in May or June.
