Remote working is playing a huge part in revitalising local communities.

That's the view of Tomás Ó Síocháin, chief executive of the Western Development Commission.

The Ballaghaderreen based organisation alongside NUI Galway have today revealed the findings of their National remote working survey.

It finds that 40 per cent of people interviewed were now working fully remote while 30 percent of respondents would change jobs to work offsite, even if it means a pay cut.

The CEO believes there's a growing appetite for workers to move to regional areas.

Since the start of the Covid pandemic 10% of respondents have moved from urban to rural locations while a quarter are open to the idea of making the change.

Speaking to Tommy Stenson, Tomás says remote and hybrid working breathes new life into towns and villages.
