It's hoped employees in the Shannonside region will be able to apply for paid sick leave by the autumn.
Under government plans working their way through the Oireachtas all workers will be entitled to sick pay
Three days would be offered initially, before increasing to 10 by 2026.

As it stands, the Sick Leave Bill would require employees to be paid at least 70 percent of their normal wage, up to a maximum of 110 euro per day.
