A ban on drinking on the streets in Carrick-on-Shannon is needed, according to a long-time resident in the town.
Such a bylaw was considered several years ago, but councillors opted not to proceed with it. Community CCTV was rolled out instead and it was felt this was sufficient to deal with incidents linked to the night-time economy.
But Green Party local elections candidate, Leslie O'Hora, believes the bylaw should be back on the table, and his call has been supported by Veronica Kelly, who has lived in Carrick for 20 years. She spoke to Eoghan Murphy on Tuesday's Let's Talk.
