A new school building in Ballaghaderreen, costing over €6 million, is to be prioritised and could open in 2026.

It's to cater for the sharp increase in pupil numbers in St Attracta's National School in recent years, due to an increase in refugees and immigrants to the area.

The number of children attending the school has increased by 35 per cent over the past seven years.
The school has had to divide classrooms into two, with partition walls, to cater for the rising numbers.
