Longford couple saved by neighbours and family after slurry pit fumes incident

A Longford couple is recovering in hospital after being knocked unconscious by lethal fumes from a slurry pit on their farm.

Following the incident last week, the family of Mervin and Iris Clendenning from Stonepark is appealing to farmers to be aware of the impacts of all activity on their landholdings.

Swift action by Mervin's brother Stuart and neighbour Mervin Waters, who were in the area at that time brought the couple out of the shed to safety.

Both are now recovering after the incident and their son Trevor Clendenning described the incident on today's Let's Talk
