A popular Athlone nursing home has closed its doors.
Stella Maris Nursing home in Athlone had been operating for 35 years at Baylough, Athlone.
The small family run centre provided twenty-four hour general nursing care for up to 25 residents.

Soaring costs and unrealistic expectaions from HIQA are two of the reasons why they've been forced wind down their operation.
Recent inspections of the facility had noted that staff were kind and caring and that residents were well supported and happy living in the centre.
