It took an ambulance 3 hours and 16 minutes to arrive at a life-threatening emergency call in Leitrim last year.

There were 158 response times of at least an hour in the Shannonside region in 2023 - with 47 in Leitrim, 62 in Roscommon, and 49 in Longford.

HSE figures show the longest wait in Longford was 2 hours and 45 minutes, and the longest in Roscommon was 2 hours and 36 minutes. Ballinamore GP Seán Bourke says the problem hasn't improved in recent years - as he told Eoghan Murphy.
